Hostname
The identifying network name of a device or server
Core Idea
A hostname is the name assigned to a device or server so it can be identified consistently. It shows up in operating system settings, DNS registration, and TLS certificate checks.
Why It Matters Here
Mathbong uses hostnames when explaining cloud-init setup, internal DNS, and certificate SAN validation. Naming things clearly is one of the simplest ways to reduce operational confusion.
