NAS
Network-attached storage for shared files and backups
Core Idea
NAS is storage exposed over the network, often through NFS or SMB, so hosts can keep backups or shared files outside their own local disks. In homelabs it is a common off-host backup target because it separates storage failure domains more cleanly than keeping everything on one machine.
Why It Matters Here
Mathbong uses this term in Proxmox backup and recovery posts when comparing off-host backup targets.
