Reverse Proxy
A front-facing server that routes external traffic to internal services
Core Idea
A reverse proxy receives external requests first, forwards them to internal services, and returns the responses. Users see one entry point while the infrastructure hides ports, centralizes certificates, and keeps security policy in one place.
Why It Matters Here
Mathbong uses reverse proxies to connect Nginx containers, OPNsense exposure rules, and homelab service design. It is the key term behind the idea of "one public front door, many private services."
