LaTeX
A command-based document and mathematics typesetting system
Core idea
LaTeX is a system for describing document structure and mathematical expressions with text commands. Typesetting arranges text and equations into readable pages. When making worksheets, you may first encounter its mathematical notation.
Writing an expression
Write a fraction as \frac{3}{4}, a square as x^2, and a subscript as a_1. A math renderer can display these as , , and . Braces group the parts to which a command applies.
You do not need to memorize all the commands at first. Check that AI-generated notation preserves the original meaning and displays correctly on screen and in the printed output.
Using it in HTML and Hangul documents
Putting LaTeX notation into HTML alone normally displays the source text. A math renderer such as KaTeX or MathJax is needed to display formatted mathematics. Document styling with tools such as PaperCSS and math rendering serve different purposes.
Hangul document equations may use an input format different from LaTeX. After extraction or conversion from PDF or HWPX, compare fraction grouping, exponents, parentheses, and symbols with the original.
Connection to professional terminology
LaTeX as a whole is a document typesetting system built on TeX. On the web, a math renderer interprets a supported subset of LaTeX-style mathematical notation. A web renderer does not support every LaTeX command or document package.
Role in this blog
The worksheet workflow introduces this notation for recording and transferring equations during source analysis, Markdown drafting, and A4 HTML production. Full document authoring and detailed equation syntax belong in a separate article.
